After all, you deserve to know everything about On The Cusp: how the idea originated, how we decided to establish this company, how we selected this wine. Everything you need to know to fully enjoy being part of On The Cusp is now no secret to you.
On a beautiful sunny afternoon, Olivier and I hosted a long BBQ party in my garden with friends from France and San Francisco, California.
After several sips of rosé wine served from magnums, our friend from San Francisco said to Olivier's girlfriend, "Oh, so you are On The Cusp," referring to zodiac signs.
None of us around the table knew this idiom, so we all asked for the meaning. It turns out it means "to be in between," "to be borderline," or "on the way to," depending on the context.
Then Olivier said, "Pour me a glass of On The Cusp!" meaning he wanted a glass of wine that was neither white nor red, but a glass of rosé!
And that's it, ON THE CUSP was born !
This is the day we decided to create our wine, our company to export a good french rosé wine in the USA stating by San Francisco and California.
The first step has to be the wine !
Which wine do we want, from where in France, what quality, in which contener, under which label and brand....theON THE CUSP adventure was on is way !

Let me share with you the wine hunting journey !
Perhaps the easiest and most enjoyable part of the launch. Picture this: traversing the diverse wine regions of France in search of the finest rosé, meeting with winemakers, and tasting wine at any hour of the day... For wine lovers like Olivier and me, you can imagine how difficult it was ?!
Nevertheless, after three days of tasting wine, I can assure you that sampling wine at 8:00 or 9:00 am is not always... straightforward.
After tasting probably a hundred different rosé wines from Côte de Provence, Languedoc-Roussillon, Vallée de Loire, Côte du Rhone, and more, we had to organize a blind taste test for our potential customers!
Once again, it was an incredibly enjoyable process !
We invited all our friends... again, to sample over 25 different rosé wines... Oh my God !
Three sessions were necessary to choose the best wine for On The Cusp. We needed this French rosé wine to embody our positioning, reflecting the memorable experience we had during the BBQ party in my garden near Paris and Versailles.
We sought a wine that could be appreciated by the majority, yet also cater to the tastes of American and Californian wine enthusiasts, while still retaining enough French character to stand out from what Americans typically drink as rosé wine.
After three sessions of blind tasting, the Grenache rosé from Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert in the Languedoc-Roussillon region (south of France) emerged each time as one of the top three favorite wines selected by our guests.
And ON THE CUSP the WINE 4 FRIENDS was the one !
Today, the company is thriving: the wine is selected, the label is ready, the communication is online, and we have secured importers. We are truly ON THE CUSP of success and eagerly awaiting our first client order!
We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our friends from France and San Francisco, our families, our business partners, the winemakers, and even our banker, without whom this adventure would not have been possible.
